2019 T10 Abu Dhabi Winners Points Table Playoff Results Top Performers

Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019 cricketing fireworks began on November 15, 2019, with the first match played between Maratha Arabians and Northern Warriors, which Northern Warriors won comfortably by 9 wickets. And now more than a week later, we got the winner of the 2019 edition of the T10 League. In this article, we will see the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019 league stage (Group A and Group B) points table, super-league stage points table, playoff results, and top performers.

2019 Abu Dhabi T10 Group Stage Points Table

Deccan Gladiators were the table-toppers in the Group A matches, while Maratha Arabians were the table-toppers in the Group B matches.

Based on the positions in the tables, then the teams from group A played against the teams from Group B in the Super League Stage of the tournament.

2019 Abu Dhabi T10 Super League Stage Points Table

After 14 matches in the group stage, all teams played a total of ten more matches in the super league stage of the Abu T10 2019.

After these ten matches, the top 4 teams in the points table qualified for the playoff stage of the Abu Dhabi T10 2019.

Maratha Arabians were impressive throughout the tournament and thus became the table-toppers in the Super League Stage. Qalandars were a close second.

Thus, these two top teams got the chance to play in the Qualifier match. The team which would win this match would directly qualify for the final to be held on November 24, 2019, Sunday. The losing team would have to play Eliminator matches and fight their way hard to the finals.

Playoff match results are given below.

2019 Abu Dhabi T10 Playoff Results

The below table gives the results of the playoff matches. All matches were played at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Qualifier Result Summary (Maratha Arabians vs Qalandars)

The top two teams played the Qualifier match on November 23, 2019.

Dwayne Bravo-led Maratha Arabians won the Qualifier by beating Dawid Malan-led Qalandars by 7 runs.

Batting first, Maratha Arabians reached 119/6 in 10 overs.

Maratha Arabians had a bad start, with the opener  Hazratullah Zazai getting out in the first over on 1 run from 2 balls.

But then Chris Lynn and Adam Lyth batted beautifully to build a good score quickly. Lynn scored 67 runs from 30 balls, hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes. Adam Lyth scored 28 runs from 15 balls, hitting 3 fours and 1 six.

After Lyth got out on 53/2 in 4.4 overs and Lynn got out on 68/3 in 6.1 overs, next batsman Najibullah Zadran scored only 2 runs from 3 balls and Yuvraj Singh got out on 1 run from 2 balls.

But thanks to Dasun Shanaka’s 7 ball-14 run, Maratha Arabians gave a formidable target of 120 runs from 10 overs for the Qalandars to chase.

Qalandars, in reply, had a rather slow start. Opener Luke Ronchi got on 17 runs from 12 balls in the third over. Next batsman Phil Salt did up the tempo of the game scoring 10 ball-26 runs, hitting 4 fours and 1 six.

Later, Laurie Evans tried to take Qalandars to the finish line with his not-out 17 ball-35 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. But in the end, they only managed 112/4 in 10 overs.

And thus Maratha Arabians won the Qualifier by 7 runs and will now play in the finals.

Chris Lynn was the player of the match.

Eliminator-1 Result Summary (Deccan Gladiators vs Bangla Tigers)

Shane Watson-led Deccan Gladiators beat Thisara Perera-led Bangla Tigers by 5 wickets (with 5 balls remaining).

Batting first, Bangla Tigers made 107 runs losing three wickets in 10 overs.

Rilee Rossouw made 29-ball 55 runs, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. Towards the end Chirag Suri hit three sixes and scored 25 runs from 13 balls, while captain Thisara Perera scored 12* runs from 5 balls, hitting 2 fours.

In reply, Deccan Gladiators successfully chased down the target of 108 runs losing 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

Opener Mohammad Shahzad gave a fantastic start to the Gladiators, scoring 28 runs from just 11 balls, hitting 5 fours and 1 six.

Other opener and captain Shane Watson struggled a bit before he got out on 16 runs from 15 balls, hitting 1 four and 1 six.

Thanks to Dan Lawrence’s 13-ball 33 runs knock, the Gladiators reached the target comfortably. He was also the player of the match.

Bangla Tigers are now out of the tournament. Deccan Gladiators will play for the final match spot against the Qalandars in the Eliminator-2 match.

Eliminator-2 Result Summary (Qalandars vs Deccan Gladiator)

Shane Watson-led Deccan Gladiators beat Dawid Maland-led Qalandars by runs and qualified for the final.

Deccan Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat first.

Mohammad Shahzad once again gave a sizzling start to the inning,  but could not score big. He hit 1 four and 2 sixes before getting out on 19 runs from 8 balls.

Captain Shane Watson (16 runs from 10 balls), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (0 from 1 ball) and last match hero Dan Lawrence (1 run from 3 balls) all got out quite early.

Qalandars were looking in great control of the match. Next batsman, Kieron Pollard scored 19 runs from 14 balls, hitting 1 six and 2 fours but got clean bowled on bowling on Jordan Clark.

At this point, Qalandars bowling was looking tight, but then came Ben Cutting and he smashed a 19-ball 43 runs knock, hitting 5 sixes and 1 four. He hit four consecutive sixes in the final over and took Deccan Gladiators’ total score to a solid 116/7 in 10 overs.

Samit Patel took 3 wickets giving 26 runs in 2 overs.

In reply, Qalandars openers Luke Ronchi and captain Dawid Malan gave a stable start but they needed a higher run rate.

In an attempt to go big in the 3rd over, Malan got cleaned bowled on 5 runs from 7 balls on the bowling of Sheldon Cottrell. Cottrell immediately gave his signature salute as part of the celebration.

Fawad Ahmed then clean bowled opener Luke Ronchi on 16 runs from 9 balls, who had hit 1 six and 1 four.

Qalandars were now 32/2 in 3.5 overs and needed 85 runs from 37 balls and looked in trouble.

Now the responsibility was on Sussex batsman Phil Salt and UAE player Amjad Khan, who plays with the MRF bat. Amjad Khan did hit two consecutive sixes to Kieron Pollard.

After six overs, Qalandars were on 59/2 and needed 58 runs from the last 4 overs.

Amjad Khan was looking good but in an attempt to slog-sweep Fawad Ahmed, he got clean bowled on 32 runs from 21 balls. He hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in his inning. And Qalandars were 73/3 in 7.2 overs.

Laurie Evans did try to create some magic with his 6-ball 13 runs but gave a catch while attempting to hit a six.

In the final over, Qalandars needed 23 runs from 6 balls but managed only 10 runs. The final score was 104/4 in 10 overs.

Fawad Ahmed took 2 wickets in the match giving just 9 runs in 2 overs.

Thus, Deccan Gladiators beat Qalandars by 12 runs and confirmed their place in the final against Maratha Arabians, scheduled the next day.

Ben Cutting won the player of the match.

3rd Place Playoff Result Summary (Bangla Tigers vs Qalandars)

Thisara Perera-led Bangla Tigers beat Dawid Malan-led Qalandars by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining.

Bangla Tigers won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Batting first, Qalandars scored 109 runs losing 3 wickets in 10 overs. Captain Dawid Malan opened the innings and scored 17-ball 24 runs and the other opener Luke Ronchi scored 9-ball 19 runs.

Amjad Gul got stumped out on the first ball, on the bowling of Prabath Jayasuriya. It was Jayasuriya’s second wicket after he clean bowled Luke Ronchi.

But later, Peter Trego scored not out 18-ball 23 runs, hitting 1 four and 1 six and Philip Salt scored not out 15-ball 30 runs hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Thus Qalandars reached a total of 109/3 in 10 overs.

In reply, Bangla Tigers openers Andre Fletcher and Rilee Rossouw gave a good start. They scored 26 runs in the first two overs and the team needed 84 runs from 48 balls at that stage.

They continued the beautiful batting together. Andre Fletcher became the first man to reach 500 runs in all seasons of the T10 league.

In the sixth over, Rilee Rossouw hit his second six. But immediately on the next ball, while going for another big one, gave a catch at the long-on. Rossouw made 31 runs from 15 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Bangla Tigers were 73/1 in 5.5 overs and needed 37 runs from 25 balls.

Andre Fletcher continued his big-hitting and completed his 50 runs in 27 balls.

Tom Moores tried to go for a six on Samit Patel’s bowing but gave a catch to George Garton and Bangla Tigers lose their second wicket.

The tigers needed 16 runs to win from 12 balls.

Andre Fletcher’s inning came to an end on 52 runs from 30 balls. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his inning. He gave a catch to George Garton on the bowling of Jordan Clark and the Tigers lost their third wicket.

Bangla Tigers needed 14 runs from 9 balls.

New batsman Colin Ingram hit a six on his second ball.

But in the last over, when they needed 5 runs from 5 balls, Ingram tried to go for another big one and got catch-out on the bowling of Peter Trego.

Peter Trego bowled one no ball, so the Tigers got a free hit and needed 4 runs from 4 balls.

On the free hit, Trego clean bowled but it was a free hit so not out. Tigers stole one run and now needed 3 from 3.

Captain Thisara Perera who was now on strike hit six on his first ball.

Thus Bangla Tigers won the 3rd place playoff match by 6 wickets (with 2 balls remaining).

Andre Fletcher won the player of the match award.

Final Match Results Summary (Maratha Arabians vs Deccan Gladiators)

Dwayne Bravo-led Maratha Arabians beat Shane Watson-led Deccan Gladiators by 8 wickets.

Maratha Arabians won the toss and decided to bowl first.

2019 Abu Dhabi T10 League Final Match Summary Maratha Arabians vs Deccan Gladiators

Batting first, Deccan Gladiators had a bad start. Both openers got out early.

Shane Watson, in the very first over, tried to pull but gave a catch to Najibullah Zadran at the deep square leg. He made 1 run from 2 balls.

Mohammad Shahzad tried to take on the great Lasith Malinga. He hit two consecutive fours, but then in the same over, Malinga bowled a slower one and Shahzad gave a catch.

Thus, Malinga had the last laugh. Shahzad scored 14 runs from 7 balls, hitting 3 fours.

In the fourth over, Kasun Rajitha bowled a short ball to Pollard and he too gave a catch to Dasun Shanaka in an attempt to pull. Kieron Pollard made 5 runs from 8 balls.

Deccan Gladiators were in trouble at 26/3 in 3.5 overs.

Next, Dan Lawrence fell prey to Dwayne Bravo’s bowling. He made only 4 runs from 8 balls.

The Gladiators were now 34/4 in 4.5 overs and were in great trouble.

Batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa tried to take his team out of the quagmire. He hit two consecutive sixes in the seventh over to Dasun Shanaka.

But Rajapaksa got LBW out to Dwayne Bravo in the next over. And Deccan Gladiators were on 69/5 in 8 overs.

Ben Cutting got run out by wicket-keeper Chadwick Walton on a score of 12 runs from 5 balls.

New batsman Migael Pretorius too got run out by the wicket-keeper.

And then Chadwick Walton completed a run-out hat-trick on the last ball of the inning, by running-out the new batsman Fawad Ahmed!

Deccan Gladiators made 87/8 in 10 overs and gave a target of 88 runs for Maratha Arabians to chase.

In reply, Maratha Arabians had a dream start. 

Opener Chris Lynn and Chadwick Walton made 50+ runs in the 4th over itself.

Chris Lynn finally got out on the bowling of Zahoor Khan, while trying to hit a big shot. He made 16 runs from 10 balls, hitting 0 four and 2 sixes.

Walton was still going strong. Batsman Adam Lyth joined him.

After 5 overs, Maratha Arabians were 66/1 and needed 22 runs from 30 balls,

Adam Lyth wanted to finish the match quickly and tried to hit a six, but the ball went too high and Sheldon Cottrell took a clean catch. Migael Pretorius took his first wicket.

Chadwick Walton continued with his great day.

After getting the run-out hattrick in the first inning, he also completed his 51* runs from 26 balls while chasing. What a memorable final match for him!

When the Arabians needed 5 runs from 17 balls, Najibullah Zadran hit a six.

Thus Maratha Arabians won the 2019 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament by 8 wickets.

Chadwick Walton won the player of the match award.
